On August 26, 1920, women were given the right to vote in the United States with the certification of the 19th Amendment. The launch of the Women Soaring Project (WSP) this fall 2020 fortuitously coincides with the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage. It is with great honor that the WSP is able to celebrate this incredible achievement in women's history highlighting exceptional artworks with its inaugural exhibit, Women Suffragists.
The panel of jurors for this show was comprised of the WSP co-founders and advisory board members including Jane Le Skaife, Jackie Lo, Megan Seely, Leah Cluff, Jennifer Lugris, Grace Gray-Adams, Jenifer Vernon and Lesley Doig. While we received 48 submissions from artists all around the world, we voted on the top three pieces that displayed the strongest content and execution in addressing the theme of women's suffrage. We are pleased to announce these winning works are:

SOARING
An interactive arts and culture project seeking to see, know, and appreciate women in history

In connection to the eight women environmentalists featured on our site, Women Soaring Project (WSP) will be holding our annual online art exhibit titled "Women Environmentalists". Artists should submit their best 2-D art (i.e., photography, painting, drawing, prints, mixed-media, etc.) related to the "Women Environmentalists" theme, which commemorates and appreciates women who ardently fight to protect the environment in various ways. WSP encourages entries from all individuals regardless of their experience or education. Everyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to participate.

At the close of the entry period, a group of jurors will choose the top artist who will be awarded a $750 honorarium to give an artist talk about their work and answer questions from the public in an online venue. The show will be on view from April 1 - 31, 2023 in the WSP Gallery.

Guidelines:​

The artwork must be original.

The artwork must be connected to the theme of women environmentalists.

Limit of one entry per person.

Photograph or scan of artwork submitted as a jpeg file (minimum resolution 1920 x 1080). The work must be photographed properly. For tips on how to photograph the work, click here.

Deadline to submit is March 31, 2023.

Participants must be 18 years of age.

Winning artists must participate in an artist talk hosted by WSP in April 2023 to receive an honorarium.
